National Bank Celebrates the Spirit of Giving

James G. Rakes, Chairman, President and CEO of National Bank, presents a donation to Captain Jim Forrer, Salvation Army of the New River Valley.

In the spirit of the holiday season, National Bank and its employees are bringing smiles to the faces of local children through their participation in the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program.

"National Bank employees have been supporting the Angel Tree program for many years.  They always look forward to adopting ‘Angels’ and shopping for them," said National Bank Chairman, President and CEO James G. Rakes.  “This year they have generously helped many children in our communities have a special holiday.”

In addition to the toys and clothing given by the bank’s employees, National Bank gave a monetary donation to support the programs of the Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army's Angel Tree program solicits community support to provide toys and clothing for children in the area whose Christmas requests might otherwise go unanswered. The Salvation Army of the New River Valley serves needy families in Floyd, Giles, Montgomery and Pulaski Counties as well as the City of Radford.
