National Bank Pembroke Office Hosts Field Trip

Sixty kindergarten students from Eastern Elementary School in Pembroke recently paid a visit to National Bank’s Pembroke Office to learn a little bit about money and banks. Each spring, National Bank visits classrooms and hosts field trips as a part of the American Bankers Association’s annual Teach Children to Save Campaign.

The students took a tour of the bank, exploring the teller line, vault and the drive-thru window. The bank’s staff also discussed basic concepts of money, banking and saving with the children. At the end of the tour, the children received piggy banks and savings-themed coloring books to help make saving fun as well as financially beneficial.

Founded in Blacksburg in 1891, National Bank is a community bank with 25 offices throughout Southwest Virginia.  The bank is a subsidiary of National Bankshares, Inc., a Blacksburg-based financial holding company with over $1.1 billion in assets.
