As your bank of choice in Virginia, National Bank strives to offer the best products and services to help you achieve and maintain your financial goals. To do that, we need to have a structure of fees. The good news is that you can steer clear of most of these fees if you take a few simple steps like avoiding an early withdrawal fee on a CD or IRA account by letting it mature before removing funds. Read on for some more tips for avoiding fees.
Maintenance Fees
If you have a checking account with us, our maintenance fees vary based on the type of account. Our Free Checking Account and Primeline Checking Account have no monthly maintenance fees and no minimum balance. Our Classic Checking and NOW Checking accounts have minimal monthly fees but fortunately, you can avoid this fee by having a minimum balance of $500 in your account.
Overdraft and Insufficient Funds
Overdraft charges and fees for insufficient funds (NSF) apply when your account balance is too low to cover withdrawals or purchases. There are a few ways to stay on top of these kinds of fees.
First, you can avoid the insufficient funds fee by transferring money to your account before the end of the business day on which you anticipate being overdrawn. Use our online banking or mobile banking app to monitor your accounts and transfer money.
The Overdraft Protection and Overdraft Privilege services are a way to counteract the instances where insufficient funds may be inevitable. Overdraft Protection applies to all transactions and may help prevent overdrafts by automatically transferring funds to your checking account from another account, cash advance, or line of credit. Overdraft Privilege allows you to overdraw your account up to the disclosed limit for a fee to pay a transaction. Even if you have Overdraft Protection, Overdraft Privilege is still available as secondary coverage if the other protection source is exhausted.
ATM Fees
ATMs at our locations are free, but out-of-network ATMS require a $2.00 fee per transaction. Fortunately, we have a robust network of ATMs that you can access at your convenience.
