We are very proud of our very own Lara Ramsey as she becomes National Bank’s new President and Chief Executive Officer on July 1, 2025. Lara will be the bank’s 9th President in its 133-year history and its first female president ever.
Lara has been a big part of National Bank’s success since she joined the bank 29 years ago. As a graduate of Radford University with bachelor’s degrees in psychology and economics and a master’s degree in industrial and organizational psychology, she was a perfect fit for her first position here as Personnel Manager.
By 2001 she was promoted to Vice President and was overseeing the human resources needs of well over 200 employees. Under Lara’s guidance, the bank built a reputation as a solid employer offering competitive pay, outstanding benefits, and a friendly work environment. Today, the large percentage of long-term employees at National Bank stands as a testament to the workplace culture that Lara helped build.
Over the years, Lara advanced to lead other key areas of the bank. She was promoted to Senior Vice President of Administration in 2011 and to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in 2022. In these roles she has directed the bank’s corporate administration, corporate investment, strategic planning, marketing, and training functions.
Besides being a leader at work, Lara has also been an engaged member of our community. She is a past board member of the United Way of the New River Valley, where she spent many hours volunteering with local non-profits. She is also a past board member of the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce. As a proud Radford Highlander, she currently serves on both the Radford University Alumni Association and the Radford University Athletic Foundation boards of directors.
A native of Lebanon, Virginia, Lara resides in Radford with her husband, Sean. The couple have an adult son, Benjamin, who is currently pursuing a master’s degree at Virginia Tech.
