National Bankshares, Inc. Promotes Shelby Evans to Vice President/Audit & Compliance

James G. Rakes, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of National Bankshares, Inc., is pleased to announce the promotion of Shelby M. Evans to Vice President/Audit & Compliance. 

Mrs. Evans, of Christiansburg, is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University with bachelor’s degrees in Public Administration and Finance. She joined the Company’s Audit Department in 1992 and became its Corporate Compliance Officer in 1996. In 2003, Mrs. Evans was promoted to Corporate Auditor and has overseen the Company’s Audit and Compliance Departments since that time.

Commenting on the promotion, Chairman Rakes said, “We are fortunate to have Shelby as a long-time employee of National Bankshares. Especially in this rapidly changing regulatory environment for banks, her expertise is a great asset to our Company.  The promotion recognizes her many contributions to our success.”

Mrs. Evans currently resides in Christiansburg with her husband, George, and their children, Zac, B.K. and Rochelle. She serves as Treasurer, Assistant Youth Director at Schaeffer Memorial Baptist Church.
